Sex trafficking is the second fastest growing crime in Alaska. Many victims of sex trafficking are kept out of the public, however up to 88% are seen in healthcare. This provides a unique opportunity for nurses to identify victims and offer help. As there have been limited programs to educate nurses on this population and most of the hospitals in Alaska do not have a policy regarding sex trafficking victims, it is important to spread awareness of this issue and help nurses identify potential victims.
